Lidl confirms pre-Christmas opening date for new Telford store
Telford shoppers are getting a brand-new Lidl just in time for Christmas, as the discount supermarket confirms its opening date. The new store on Rock Road will open its doors for the first time on Thursday, 27th November.
The grand opening will take place at 8am following a ribbon cutting ceremony with pupils from Newdale Primary School.
To celebrate, shoppers can look forward to complimentary food sampling, as well as some special prizes up for grabs on the day.
The new store is part of a multi-million pound investment and is set to create up to 40 new jobs for the local economy.
Dominic Bryan, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said the announcement was a response to growing demand in the area.
“For well over two decades, we have been creating Lidl fans across Telford and are delighted to open our doors to our newest store,” he commented.
“Today’s announcement is a testament to the growing demand for our affordable and high-quality products, and we’re delighted to open our doors in time for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in helping to make this store a reality. It’s always an exciting moment when we’re finally able to see our plans come to life and make a difference to local communities.”
The 1,334m² store will feature the in-store bakery, the popular Middle of Lidl aisle, and customer facilities. Outside, there will be ample parking, bicycle spaces, and seven electric vehicle chargers.
Following a recent announcement, Lidl colleagues will now receive £13.00 nationally. This marks the discounter’s fifth pay rise in two years.
Lidl was also recently crowned Which? Cheapest Supermarket. This assures shoppers they are getting good value at the new location.
The discounter is also encouraging nearby Primary schools to join the new Lidl Foodies Programme. This is a free initiative to provide teachers with resources that help children develop a love for healthy eating.
