Reform & Labour take victories in the three Telford by-elections


There were three local town council ward seats being fought over, culminating in an election yesterday. The votes were counted last night.

Reform stood in two of the areas and took both of them, with Labour taking the third.

Alan Adams (Reform) who just missed out to Shaun Davies in the general election last year, won in Oakegates, and Andrew Morris won in Priorslee & St Georges for Reform.

In Wellington, Labours Hugh Sanders took the seat.

By-election result – Election of a Town Councillor for Oakengates Town Council (Oakengates and Wombridge Ward)

ADAMS, Alan Sean. Commonly known as ADAMS, Alan (Reform UK) – 482 votes ELECTED

DOODY, Patrick Jerome (Liberal Democrats) – 27 votes

MURRAY, Alan Brett. Commonly known as MURRAY, Brett (Local Conservatives) – 102 votes

REECE, Stephen Glen. Commonly known as REECE, Steve (Oakengates Independent Resident) – 169 votes

SMART, Janine (Labour Party) – 226 votes

Alan ADAMS is duly elected

Turnout: 23.07%

By-election result – Election of a Parish Councillor for St Georges & Priorslee Parish Council (St Georges West Ward)

BARNETT, Archie William (Liberal Democrats) – 33 votes

DUGMORE, Nigel Edward (Local Conservatives) – 147 votes

MORRIS, Andrew (Reform UK) – 368 votes ELECTED

SMITH, Daphne (Labour Party) – 230 votes

WEBSTER, Mark (Green Party Candidate) – 62 votes

Andrew MORRIS is duly elected

Turnout: 22.49%

By-election result – Election of a Town Councillor for Wellington Town Council (Haygate Ward)

KING, Sharon (Local Conservatives) – 190 votes

MCCARTHY, Patrick Michael John. Commonly known as MCCARTHY, Pat (Green Party Candidate) – 99 votes

SANDERS, Hugh Martin (Labour Party) – 235 votes ELECTED

WESTON, Kerry Louise (Liberal Democrats) – 156 votes

Hugh Martin SANDERS is duly elected

Turnout: 22.78%

    I’ve just checked. I’m on the Priorslee electoral roll and the first I knew about this was the results. Why would I not have been sent any notifications?

      The election was most likely for a different ward.

  • Well – it was clearly stated to be the St George’s & Priorslee ward!! So no mistake there then!! Why have I not been notified about voting?? It’s not a nice thing to have but a legal right! How did everyone else receive their notification? Through the door??

      It was the St Georges West Ward, in the Priorslee & St Georges Parish Council.
