Science experiment triggers fire alarm at school

A fire appliance from Newport was called to Newport Girls High School earlier today following an alarm activation.

The crew was mobilised at 12:19 after a fire classification report was received by SFRS Fire Control.

It was quickly established that the alarm was false and had been triggered by a science experiment at the school.

The stop message was received at 12:37, confirming the incident was over with no injuries or actual fire.
