Telford escapes the worst of storm Claudia

Flash flooding from the storm affected parts Birmingham and  Wales but Telford escaped relatively unscathed.

A handfull of trees that fell on roads were quickly swept away by council teams, although some that have fallen on the Silkin Way through the town park, have forced organisers to cancel this mornings planned Park Run.

The weather is set to improve through the day and although the River Severn is rising, it has not yet reached the top of its normal range.

As a precaution, some parking bays along The Wharfage have been closed off and bungs are being fitted to the drains. Businesses in the area are still operating normally
