Vote closes soon for new Telford flag

The public have just a few days left to vote for the design that will become the official flag for Telford and Wrekin.

Thousands of votes have been cast in an online poll that has been running since Monday 20 October, giving residents the chance to pick their favourite from four final designs.

The deadline to cast a vote for a design to represent the borough is 5pm this Sunday, 2 November.

The competition began back in June, when more than 1,000 schoolchildren took part in a flag design contest. Judges narrowed the huge number of entries down to the four finalists.

Each of the four young finalists was invited to meet with a professional designer. They looked at how their drawings could be interpreted into a flag that meets the Flag Institute guidelines. These rules include keeping the design simple, using meaningful symbolism, and sticking to just two or three basic colours.

The school of the winning designer will receive a £250 prize from Telford-Live to be put towards arts and culture activities.
