Car fire extinguished

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Firefighters were called to a Seat Ibiza on fire in Madeley on Saturday evening. The crew from Tweedale Fire Station arrived at the scene at 8.31pm to find the vehicle well alight.

Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to bring the fire under control. Small tools were also used to ensure the scene was safe and prevent the flames from spreading.

West Mercia Police also attended the incident. A stop message was received by fire control at 8.58pm after the blaze was extinguished.

People are reminded to keep a safe distance from vehicle fires and dial 999 immediately.
