Krazy Races team spaces filling up fast
Organisers of the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby say spaces are flying off the shelves following the news that the event is coming to Telford for the first time. Since the council announced the July 12th race date last month, more than half of the 40 available spots have already been snapped up.
Telford & Wrekin Council is bringing the free-to-attend event to the town as part of its 2026 summer lineup. Local businesses, charities, and families are being urged to secure their places before the entry window closes in the coming weeks.
The award-winning Krazy Races sees teams design and build handcrafted soapboxes to tackle a downhill course. The track will be filled with ramps, chicanes, and obstacles designed to test the nerves of every driver.
Councillor Angela McClements, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism, Culture & the Arts, said: “This event promises a fantastic day of fun, creativity and community spirit, exactly what our summer events are all about. It’s a brilliant opportunity for families, friends, charities and businesses to come together, showcase their imagination and raise money for great local causes.”
The event village will also feature live performances and local food stalls to keep spectators entertained between races.
Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand & Strategic Development for Krazy Races, is a local man himself. He said: “Coming from Telford, I knew the event would be popular, but the speed at which teams have signed up has truly blown me away. The support from the community has been incredible.”
Teams are being encouraged to enter now to avoid disappointment. Further details on the headline charity for the event will be released early next year.
