One person rescued after car flips near Newport

Emergency services were called to the A518 in Newport on Sunday afternoon following a serious collision.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received the report at 15:45 after a single vehicle ended up on its roof.

Four fire appliances from Telford Central and Wellington attended the scene alongside an operations officer. Crews worked with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to manage the incident.

Firefighters used specialist Holmatro cutters and spreaders to release one person who was trapped inside the car. The victim was left in the care of the emergency services on site.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service, the Air Ambulance, and West Mercia Police were all in attendance.

The road was cleared and a stop message was received by fire control at 16:25.
