Police appeal after Wellington Christmas jumper assault

Police are investigating a serious assault that took place outside The Station Hotel in Wellington during the early hours of Saturday morning. Officers were called to Station Road at around 1am following an altercation that left a man in his 20s with serious injuries.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. No arrests have been made so far as the investigation continues.

Officers are working to identify a suspect described as a white man of heavy build with dark hair and a dark beard. He was reportedly wearing a red, green, and white Christmas jumper.

Detectives are also keen to speak with a specific witness who was in the area at the time. This man is described as white and was also wearing a Christmas jumper.

Anyone who was at the hotel or nearby during the incident is asked to contact the police.
