Telford residents invited to shape future youth strategy
Telford and Wrekin Council is inviting young people, parents, carers, and professionals to share their views on the priorities for the Borough’s new Youth Strategy.
The Council has spent recent months engaging with over 100 young people, youth professionals, and community partners through surveys, workshops, and focus groups. This feedback has been used to create a draft strategy focusing on four key areas:
Your Voice Matters (helping young people feel heard and involved in decisions)
Great Youth Clubs and Activities (creating safe, welcoming, and accessible spaces)
Support for Wellbeing (improving access to trusted adults and mental health support)
Feeling Safe in Your Community (working together to make neighbourhoods safer)
Alongside these core priorities, the strategy also proposes early actions such as strengthening youth voice via the Youth Partnership Board, securing access to clubs and activities, developing digital communication, widening opportunities for emotional health support, and developing the youth workforce.
The public consultation is a final check to ensure the priorities truly reflect local needs before the final version goes to Cabinet in January.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: “We want young people in Telford and Wrekin to feel supported, listened to and able to shape the services that affect them… Your feedback has helped us shape this strategy and now we want to make sure it reflects what matters most to you, I’d encourage young people, families and professionals to take part in the survey.”
The deadline for submitting views is 30 December 2025.
