Fire crews attend house as bedroom blazes

Firefighters from Telford Central and Wellington were called to a property on Portland Drive on The Rock this evening following reports of a house fire.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 5.57pm on Thursday, mobilising three fire appliances to the scene which is right beside the new Lidl store which opened just before Christmas.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a small fire within a bedroom. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the flames.

West Mercia Police were also in attendance while the incident was dealt with.

After the fire was out, thermal imaging cameras were used to check for any remaining hotspots. A stop message was received at 6.33pm.
