Growth outlook for Telford is amongst the best according to report
Telford and Wrekin is one of the top locations in the country for predicted business growth in 2026. According to the Growth Flag report, the area ranks third nationally, with 14 per cent of local firms expected to achieve high growth next year.
The ranking highlights the impact of support available to businesses across the borough. Through Invest Telford, the council works with firms at every stage to help create the conditions for expansion.
Councillor Lee Carter, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said that this is a strong endorsement of the ambition and talent within the business community. He noted that the council wants a thriving business sector because they help create good, well-paid jobs for residents.
The report assessed more than 4.3 million businesses across the UK. It found that while the national picture is challenging, scaling businesses are thriving in specific pockets.
Other areas featured in the top 10 include Solihull, which was ranked seventh. This makes Telford and Solihull the only two areas in the West Midlands to make the top 10.
In Scotland, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeen, and Moray were also named as high-growth hotspots. Aberdeen was ranked sixth, while Moray took the ninth spot.
Antrim and Newtownabbey also appeared in the top 10, identified as the strongest performing region in Northern Ireland.
