Hampers bring cheer to local residents
Students from a Telford secondary school brought festive cheer to residents in the Wrockwardine Wood area by presenting them with specially created gift hampers.
New Road Academy launched a campaign to create hampers to support families in the local community and thanks to kind donations, they delivered 30 beautifully decorated hampers to those who needed support.
Principal Andrea Bell said staff, students and families had given a wide range of food items and essentials to help local families over the festive period.
She said: “This initiative saw the whole school come together, with every year group playing a part.
“Students worked collaboratively to assemble and decorate the hampers, adding a personal and festive touch to each one. I’d like to particularly congratulate Eveleen Kaur whose design was voted the winning hamper decoration.”
Mrs Bell said parents and carers were invited to nominate families who would benefit from receiving a hamper, and students and staff personally delivered the hampers to the chosen recipients in time for Christmas.
“This project truly reflects the spirit of our school – compassion, community and teamwork,” she said.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their efforts in making a real difference – and a special thank you goes to assistant headteacher Simon Moss who organised and supported the students throughout the initiative.”
