Newport fire crew extinguish midnight campfire
Firefighters were called to Norbroom Park in Newport late on Friday night following reports of a fire in the open.
One appliance from Newport station arrived at the scene at 11.55pm. They found a campfire which had been started by a member of the public in the park.
The crew used a hose reel jet to put out the flames. They also provided advice to those present regarding fires within public and council owned spaces.
The incident was brought to a close shortly after midnight.
