On the wonk: Signs go up to stop parking on the verge

New signs appearing on streets in Telford that warn motorists not to park on verges or paths have been erected, but about 15 degrees out.

The signs on Brick Kiln Bank and Tweedale Crescent ar a mix of correctly aligned round signs and ones that are slightly out of kilter.  Some show the car parked up on a verge with one side of the car higher than the other, reflecting what it would look like like.

Some signs however show the car perfectly horizontal, and the ground on an angle as if the car is parked on a bank.

The sign should be rotated around 15° anti-clockwise

Telford and Wrekin Council ordered the signs to be erected as park of a set of traffic orders in December.

Sharp-eyed local Jayson Cooke spotter the wonky signs straight away. “I get why they need putting up as there are some inconsiderate people parking on the kerb blocking it.

“I’ve seen women with kids n pushchairs and wheelchairs having to go into the road to get around.

“Laminated signs where put up as a deterrent but no joy.”
