Police called to Brookside school after firearm report
Armed officers were called to Brookside earlier today following reports of a man with a weapon.
The report was made around 11.15am on Wednesday 14 January after concerns were raised that a person appeared to be in possession of a firearm.
Police located the man and confirmed he was not carrying any weapon. An area search was also carried out, but nothing was recovered.
A nearby primary school was placed in a brief lockdown during the incident while the area was made safe. This was lifted a short time later.
Police said the call was made in good faith and they do not believe there was a danger to the public.
