Signs go up on new store for Telford

The signs are up for a new furniture store in Telford. The Cotswold Company is preparing to open an outlet shop in Telford on the Forge Retail Park, next to Costa.

The brand, which started in the village of Bourton-on-the-Water in 1996, is bringing its range of handcrafted furniture and homeware to the town as part of a national expansion of its physical showrooms.

The company has spent nearly 30 years building a reputation for selling oak, pine and painted furniture designed to last a lifetime.

While it began as a small shop in the heart of the Cotswolds, it moved its flagship base to Stow-on-the-Wold and now operates a growing number of stores across the UK, including locations in Bath, Stamford and Marlow.

Shoppers in Telford will be able to browse collections for the bedroom, dining room and living room. The retailer is known for using traditional woodworking techniques and responsibly sourced timber. Alongside larger items like larder units and farmhouse-style tables, the store typically stocks mirrors, lighting and soft furnishings such as throws and cushions.

Ralph Tucker, the chief executive officer, has previously noted that the move into physical retail spaces allows customers to get a feel for the products in person. The brand recently achieved B Corp status, a certification that recognises its commitment to social and environmental standards. This includes a partnership with the charity Emmaus, which helps people experiencing homelessness by renovating donated furniture.

The specific opening date and location for the Telford outlet are expected to be confirmed shortly as the brand continues to roll out new sites across the country.
