Arrest made after armed police called to Ketley Bank
Armed police descended on Ketley last night following reports of a man with a gun.
The incident happened on Fifth Avenue at around 8:30pm on Wednesday. Officers were called to a property after concerns were raised that a man was in possession of a suspected firearm.
A significant police presence remained in the area this morning, with several vehicles spotted near the Lantern Academy.
West Mercia Police confirmed a 72-year-old man was arrested this morning. He was detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm or ammunition with intent to cause fear of violence.
Officers stated the incident was contained within the property and no one was injured.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers are expected to remain at the scene today as further enquiries are carried out, and reassurance patrols will also be taking place in the area. Anyone who has any concerns is asked to speak to officers.”
The man remains in police custody.
