Historic workers cottages in Coalbrookdale up for sale

A terrace of historic cottages built for workers at the Coalbrookdale Ironworks has been put on the market.

The Grade II listed properties are located on Wellington Road, directly opposite the Museum of Iron.

The sale includes four cottages within the famous Carpenters Row, the terrace originally built around 1783.

The buildings were designed to house the carpenters who worked at the nearby ironworks. The row is a significant part of the area’s industrial heritage and features red brick walls, dentilled eaves, and old tile roofs.

Records show the terrace was once leased to the Coalbrookdale Company, later being sold to the famous industrialist Richard Reynolds in 1794.

The four properties currently for sale consist of three two-bedroom cottages and one one-bedroom cottage, all being sold fully furnished.

The cottages are currently used as successful holiday lets, ideally located within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Ironbridge Gorge. This makes them popular with tourists visiting the area.

Agents Mannleys describe the sale as a “ready-made business”. The business had a turnover for 2024 of approximately £72,000.

The row still retains many original features. These include cast iron windows and chimney pots. Timber window shutters and plank doors also remain.

The four cottages are being offered for sale with a guide price of £850,000.
