Leicester man sentenced for Telford drink driving
A Leicester man has been banned from the roads after being caught at almost twice the limit in a Telford car park. Albin Abraham, of Stokes Drive, appeared at Telford Magistrates’ Court on 3 February for trial following an incident last summer.
The 44-year-old was spotted driving a silver Nissan Qashqai at the Southwater NCP car park and an adjacent road on 6 July 2024. A breath test revealed he had 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, nearly double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
Abraham changed his plea from not guilty to guilty during the hearing. Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 18 months, though this will be reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a specialist training course.
He was also ordered to pay a £480 fine, £300 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £192 surcharge. The court set up a collection order for the total to be paid in monthly instalments.
