Madeley pub reopens following six-figure investment
The Cuckoo Oak in Madeley has officially reopened its doors to the public this week following an extensive six-figure refurbishment.
Located on Bridgnorth Road, the family-friendly Hungry Horse venue—part of the Greene King group—welcomed guests back on February 10 to showcase a complete transformation of the interior and exterior.
The investment has seen the pub’s restaurant space redesigned with an open-plan layout, featuring new furniture and updated décor. The bar area has also been upgraded to improve service speed for local residents dropping in for a drink.
Sports fans in Madeley will notice a significant change, with the installation of modernised TV screens and sound systems showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports. The pub has also introduced a new dedicated darts zone and a pool table to enhance its “competitive socialising” offering.
Outside, the garden area has been renovated with new outdoor furniture and festoon lighting to improve the pub’s kerbside appeal and provide a space for alfresco dining.
To mark the official opening, members of the Randlay Colts Junior Football Club were invited to cut the ribbon. As part of the relaunch, the pub made a donation to the club to support local community initiatives.
Charlotte Jones, General Manager of the Cuckoo Oak, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be welcoming our guests back. We’ve created a brighter, more comfortable space for our customers to relax, dine and enjoy time together, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
The pub has also expanded its food offering, with a new breakfast menu now available seven days a week from 9am to 12pm. Weekly entertainment will continue with a poker league on Tuesdays, bingo on Wednesdays, and the local darts league on Thursdays.
