Man banned from every Shropshire Co-op store

A prolific shoplifter has been barred from every Co-op store in Shropshire for the next three years.

Alex Bull, 40, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday. He pleaded guilty to eight charges of theft committed between December 2025 and February 2026.

Bull, who is of no fixed abode, was handed a 16-week prison sentence. The court also issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) to prevent further offending across the county.

The CBO remains in place until February 2029. Under the strict conditions, Bull is prohibited from entering any Co-op in Shropshire.

He is also banned from several other locations:

  • Wheatland Services, Much Wenlock
  • Spar, Broseley
  • Broseley Village Stores, Broseley
  • Euro Garages, Hadley

The order further states that Bull must leave any retail premises immediately if asked to do so by staff or those in authority.

Sergeant Rich Jones, from Telford’s town centre team, said: “Bull repeatedly targeted stores across Shropshire, causing significant disruption to staff and businesses who work hard to serve their communities.”

Jones added: “This CBO sends a strong message that persistent offending will not be tolerated. The conditions imposed mean Bull is now banned from every Co‑op in the county, as well as a number of other retail premises, and any breach could mean he faces a further custodial sentence.”
