Telford author releases book for local children
A local independent author has released a new children’s fantasy book after being challenged to do so by the pupils he works with in Telford. Joe, who works with children aged between 2 and 11, wrote The Fae in the Faraway Forest following a specific request during a school breakfast club.
The story is a cosy fantasy aimed at readers aged 6 to 11. It follows a journey through an enchanted woodland filled with mysterious fae and humour. Much of the content was inspired by Joe’s daily interactions with local youngsters.
“Can you write a children’s chapter book please?” they asked one Thursday morning during breakfast club.
The author explains that the creativity and honesty of the children he works with provided the spark for the project. He uses writing as a way to manage a busy mind and to give something back to the pupils who show an interest in his tales.
“I write because I love it, it helps calm my loud and messy mind, and because the children at work seem interested in them,” Joe said. “The children I work with have such vivid imaginations and are so bright and passionate. This book grew naturally from that. It’s the kind of story I’d want to read to them.”
The book focuses on themes of nature, kindness, and curiosity. While there are no plans for a formal launch event, the author hopes the story will be shared in classrooms and at bedtimes across the borough.
The Fae in the Faraway Forest is available now in paperback and ebook formats through Amazon.
