Telford businesses invited to free sustainability and social value event
Telford and Wrekin businesses can now sign up for a free workshop focused on the future of procurement.
The Telford Sustainability & Energy Cluster (TSEC) is hosting the event with support from Telford & Wrekin Council. It aims to help local firms understand the growing importance of environmental sustainability and social value when bidding for contracts.
Attendees will receive practical insight into the new Procurement Act. These rules are changing how both public and private sectors choose their suppliers.
The workshop is open to businesses of all sizes. It is designed for those wanting to improve their competitiveness in tenders and strengthen their social value credentials.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for The Economy and Transport, said: “This event is an important opportunity for local businesses to understand how environmental sustainability and social value are becoming central to procurement decisions. By helping organisations prepare for these changes, we’re supporting growth and encouraging more meaningful, long-term impact across the Borough.”
Andy Whyle, Vice Chair for TSEC, added: “Telford’s businesses are entering a moment where sustainability, social value, and responsible practice will define who leads and who gets left behind. This is a chance to reshape our competitive edge and set the pace for the region’s future economy. The organisations that step up now will not only meet rising expectations, but they’ll also redefine what good looks like”.
The event takes place on Friday 27 February 2026 at the Mercure Hotel, Forge Gate, Telford, TF3 4NA. It runs from 8am until 11am.
