Telford man sentenced for indecent child image and order breach

A Hadley man has avoided immediate jail time after being caught with an indecent image of a child and hiding his internet history.

Kulwant Randhawa, 64, appeared at Telford Magistrates’ Court on 11 February 2026 for sentencing. Randhawa, of Near Vallens, had previously pleaded guilty to the charges in November last year.

The court heard that Randhawa breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which had been imposed by Reading Crown Court back in 2013. Between July and August 2024, he deleted his internet search history without a reasonable excuse.

During that same period, he was found to have made a Category C indecent photograph of a child.

Magistrates handed down a 9-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. The court noted that the offences were serious enough to warrant custody because of the “deliberate breach” of the court order.

As part of his suspended sentence, Randhawa must complete specific requirements:

  • Building Choices programme: 26 days of accredited rehabilitation.
  • Rehabilitation Activity: Up to 10 days of supervised appointments.

The court also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the mobile phone used in the offences. Randhawa was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £187 victim surcharge.
