Booze ban for Telford man guilty of outraging public decency and assault
A Telford man has been handed a community order after a public incident involving an assault and an act of outraging public decency.
Thomas Jones, 39, of Dallamoor, Hollinswood, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 4 March 2026 for sentencing following the events of late last year.
The court heard that on 4 November 2025, Jones committed an act outraging public decency in a public place within Telford. The charge was that he behaved in an indecent manner by pulling down his trouser bottoms and exposing his buttocks.
On the same date, Jones also assaulted a man, a charge to which he pleaded guilty.
Magistrates imposed a community order that will remain in place until March 2027. As part of the requirements, Jones must undergo 100 days of alcohol abstinence and monitoring, ending on 12 June 2026.
This means he must refrain from consuming any alcohol and will be subject to electronic monitoring to ensure compliance.
In addition to the sobriety requirement, Jones was ordered to complete up to 10 days of rehabilitation activity as directed by a responsible officer.
The bench took his guilty plea into account when reaching the decision.
Jones was also ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
