Dawley man banned from driving after drug driving on Brunel Road

A man from Dawley has been stripped of his driving licence for a year after being caught behind the wheel while over the legal limit for drugs.

Corey Madgewick, of Langley Crescent, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 13 March 2026 to face charges following an incident late last year.

The court heard that on 11 November 2025, the 30-year-old was driving a Vauxhall Vivaro van on Brunel Road in Telford.

A subsequent blood test revealed a proportion of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, a derivative of cannabis, at a level of not less than 5.8 micrograms per litre of blood. The specified legal limit for the controlled drug is 2 micrograms.

Madgewick entered a guilty plea to the charge and this was taken into account when determining the sentence.

The defendant was handed an obligatory disqualification from driving for a period of 12 months.

In addition to the driving ban, Madgewick was ordered to pay a fine of £120. Further costs were imposed, including £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £48 victim surcharge.

The court issued a collection order, allowing the total financial penalty to be paid in monthly instalments of £20 starting in April.
