Deputy Mayor welcomes first residents to new Ironbridge community

The Deputy Mayor of Telford and Wrekin has visited the new Otters Reach development in Ironbridge to meet the first residents moving into the riverside community.

Councillor Nathalie Page joined representatives from David Wilson Homes to tour the 107-home site on Buildwas Road, which forms part of the wider Benthall Grange project.

During the visit, the Deputy Mayor was given an insight into the progression of the development, which consists of two to five bedroom properties.

The housebuilder has confirmed that as part of the planning agreement with both Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council, more than £2.3 million will be invested into primary education, alongside £550,000 for improvements to the Severn Valley Way.

Further financial contributions include £350,000 for local heritage amenities, £96,000 for play and recreation areas, and over £262,000 dedicated to the planting and maintenance of trees. A further £20,000 has been allocated for works at Buildwas Academy School, with over £128,000 going towards the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

Councillor Nathalie Page said: “It was a pleasure to visit the David Wilson Homes development at Otters Reach. I’m pleased to see so many homes being made available for people in the borough.”

Helen Lewis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Deputy Mayor to our Otters Reach development for a first look at this brand-new community and to greet our first residents.

“We are starting to see this exciting development take shape and we look forward to helping a wide range of house hunters progress on the property ladder with a sustainable and energy efficient new home.”

The development currently has a range of two, three and four bedroom homes available, with prices starting from £299,995.
