Domestic abuse support services secured for another three years

Telford & Wrekin Council has officially awarded a new three-year contract to Cranstoun and West Mercia Women’s Aid to continue delivering the borough’s domestic abuse services.

The decision follows a formal tender process and ensures that specialist support for survivors, their families, and children affected by domestic abuse will continue without any interruption to the current provision.

Council leaders have stressed that maintaining stability is a priority for those in crisis. By renewing the partnership with the existing providers, residents can continue to use the same contact details and access the same expert teams they have come to trust.

Councillor Kelly Middleton, Cabinet Member for Public Health & Healthier Communities, emphasised the importance of keeping services steady for those in need.

“Continuity of care is absolutely vital when it comes to domestic abuse support. We know that reaching out for help takes enormous courage, and we want every resident in Telford and Wrekin to feel confident that the help they need is there – reliably and consistently.”

She added: “This renewed contract with Cranstoun and West Mercia Women’s Aid reflects our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our communities.”

The service, which is delivered jointly, provides trauma-informed support, including a free confidential helpline and tailored casework. Leaders from both organisations expressed their commitment to evolving the service over the next three years.

Helen Richardson, Head of Client Services at West Mercia Women’s Aid, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council and Cranstoun in delivering this vital service. Our teams are dedicated to providing the highest quality support to survivors of domestic abuse and their families, including children and young people.”

Cherie Iles, Operations Manager for Telford & Wrekin Domestic Abuse Service, noted that the team is looking forward to introducing new developments: “We are beyond delighted to continue our partnership… we have several innovative ideas to further develop the service going forward.”

If you or someone you know is affected by domestic abuse, support is free, confidential, and available through the following channels:
