Ketley man banned from the roads after being caught three times over the limit

A Telford man has been handed a three-year driving disqualification after appearing at Telford Magistrates’ Court on Friday. David Walker, 64, of Ketley, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle while his alcohol level was above the legal limit.

The court heard that on 20 February 2026, Walker was driving a white Ford EcoSport on Pauline Close in Ketley when he was stopped. He was found to have 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit in England and Wales is 35 microgrammes, placing Walker at more than three times the legal limit.

During the hearing on 6 March 2026, magistrates took his guilty plea into account when delivering the sentence. Walker was disqualified from driving for 36 months, though he was offered a 36-week reduction if he successfully completes a rehabilitation course by April 2028.

In addition to the driving ban, Walker was ordered to pay a fine of £200. He must also cover £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim surcharge of £80.

A collection order was made, with the court setting a deadline of 13 March 2026 for the total balance to be paid.
