Lego, coffee and a Michael Kors gift set among Brookside shoplifters haul

A Telford man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after admitting to a string of thefts from local stores.

Tyler Stevenson, 29, of Bishopdale, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 20 February 2026. He faced multiple charges of theft from a shop.

The court heard that Stevenson targeted several well-known retailers across the town. On 30 January 2026, he stole meat valued at £330 from Morrisons. The following day, he took Lego worth £85 from Smyths Toys.

His stealing continued into February. On 4 February, he stole £56 worth of steaks from Marks and Spencer. The next day, he targeted Boots, taking a Michael Kors set valued at £80.

Magistrates also heard about older offences. Stevenson stole steak worth £35 from the Co-op in March 2025 and Gold Blend coffee from the same chain in April 2025.

Stevenson pleaded guilty to the charges. The court took his early pleas into account when passing the sentence.

He was handed a community order which will run until February 2027. As part of this order, Stevenson must complete 50 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

The defendant was also ordered to pay compensation to the affected stores. This includes £56 to Marks and Spencer, £35 to Co-op, and £85 to Smyths Toys.

The court ruled that compensation takes priority. No orders for costs or victim surcharges were made. Stevenson will pay the balance in monthly instalments of £20 starting in March.
