Man banned from the roads after drink-driving on the EP

A 48-year-old Telford man has been handed a 19-month driving disqualification after being caught behind the wheel while over the legal alcohol limit.

Darius Drajer, of Dodmoor Grange, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 26 February 2026 for a first hearing following an incident earlier this month.

The court heard that on 5 February 2026, Drajer was driving a Volvo on Queensway in Telford. When tested, he was found to have 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath—more than double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

In addition to the drink-driving charge, Drajer also faced a second charge of possessing a controlled Class B drug.

The court took Drajer’s guilty pleas into account when passing the following sentence:

  • Driving Disqualification: 19 months. This can be reduced by 19 weeks if a rehabilitation course is completed by March 2027.
  • Fines and Costs: A £120 fine, £85 in prosecution costs, and a £48 victim surcharge.
  • Drug Forfeiture: Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the seized amphetamine under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

A collection order was made, allowing the defendant to pay the total balance in monthly instalments of £20 starting in March.
