Man jailed after knife arrest outside Wellington hotel
A 28-year-old man has been handed a prison sentence after being caught in possession of a kitchen knife outside a hotel in Wellington.
Tyler Titley, whose address was given as HMP Hewell in Worcestershire, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March, following an incident on the 7th March.
The court heard that on 7 March, Titley was found in a public place outside the Whitehouse Hotel in Wellington with the bladed article. He was charged with possessing a knife blade or sharp-pointed article in a public place, contrary to the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
Titley entered a guilty plea during his first hearing, which the magistrates took into account during sentencing. However, the bench determined that the nature of the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.
Titley was sentenced to a total custodial period of six months.
No order for costs was made due to the custodial sentence being imposed.
