Telford MP welcomes key appointment

The appointment of the independent Chair of the Pride in Place South Telford Neighbourhood Board has been announced, marking a major milestone in delivering a £30 million, ten-year transformation programme for Woodside, Brookside and Sutton Hill.

The newly appointed independent Chair, Jo Farnworth, marks an important step forward for the programme, providing strong leadership to help drive delivery and ensure the programme remains focused on the priorities of local people.

South Telford was proudly chosen as the launch site for the Government’s national Pride in Place Programme last year, unlocking a £20 million investment for residents in Woodside, Sutton Hill, and Brookside.

This includes £20 million secured following sustained lobbying by Shaun Davies MP, alongside a further £10 million committed by Telford & Wrekin Council after direct discussions between Shaun Davies and Council Leader Cllr Lee Carter.

Since last summer, Shaun Davies MP has been working closely with residents across South Telford to ensure their voices shape how this funding is invested. He has also taken local ward members to Downing Street to present the community’s priorities directly to Government, making sure South Telford is heard at the highest levels.

Shaun Davies MP, Member of Parliament for Telford, said: “I warmly welcome Jo Farnworth’s appointment following a strong and competitive process. The level of interest in this role shows the real pride people have in South Telford and the shared determination to see this programme succeed.

“Jo brings the leadership and experience needed to help turn this investment into real change on the ground. This is about delivering for local people improving neighbourhoods, creating opportunities, and making sure residents see and feel the difference in their communities. I will continue working with partners, residents and Government to ensure this £30 million investment delivers lasting change for South Telford.”
