Telford woman banned from the roads for three years after drug driving conviction
A Sutton Hill woman has been handed a lengthy driving disqualification after being caught behind the wheel while over the limit for a derivative of cocaine.
Trudy Oliver, 53, of Smallwood, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 5 March 2026 to face sentencing for the offence.
The court heard that on 22 October 2025, Oliver was driving a Vauxhall Grandland on Bridgnorth Road in Telford. A subsequent blood test revealed a proportion of benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in her system.
The level recorded was not less than 292 micrograms per litre of blood, significantly exceeding the specified legal limit.
During the proceedings, a claim was put forward, suggesting the involuntary consumption of cocaine. However, this was not found to be the case by the court. Oliver’s guilty plea was taken into account during sentencing.
Magistrates imposed an obligatory disqualification from driving for a period of 36 months. In addition to the three-year ban, Oliver was ordered to pay a fine of £120.
The court also ordered the payment of £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge. A collection order was made, allowing the total to be paid in monthly instalments of £20 starting later this month.
