Woman banned from the roads after being caught three times over the limit
A woman from Albrighton has been handed a lengthy driving disqualification after being caught behind the wheel while significantly over the legal alcohol limit in Telford.
Debbie Mountford, 50, of Station Road, appeared at Telford Magistrates’ Court on 4 March 2026 for sentencing.
The court heard that on 23 November 2025, Mountford was operating a Nissan Leaf on Teece Drive in Telford. When tested by officers, she was found to have 110 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit in England and Wales is 35 microgrammes, placing her more than three times over the limit.
Magistrates took her guilty plea into account when delivering the sentence. Mountford was disqualified from driving for 23 months, though this can be reduced by 23 weeks if she successfully completes an approved driving course by April 2027. An interim disqualification had already been in place since December 2025.
In addition to the ban, she was ordered to pay a fine of £192. The court also imposed costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim surcharge of £77.
A collection order was made for the total balance to be paid in monthly instalments of £20 starting in April.
