One of the best proms ever: Students dazzle on their special night

Students turned on the style with a glittering prom celebration to mark the end of their time at a Newport school.

The Class of 2025 at Burton Borough School arrived at Lilleshall Hall in a dazzling array of transport – from a horse and cart to sports cars, and even tractors.

Head of year 11 Paige Jervis said: “The event was more than just a party – it was a powerful celebration of the journey our young people have taken together. It marked the culmination of years of growth, learning, friendship and challenges overcome.

“It was a joyful milestone that brought everyone together to reflect on achievements and the memories they have made.”

Assistant principal Maria Griffiths praised the students’ vibrant spirit and politeness, saying it was one of the best proms ever held by the school.

“Our students danced the night away, even breaking out into a conga line! The DJ said it was the best party she had ever hosted.”

Assistant head of year Sophie Coffey added: “The prom marks the end of an important chapter. We are so proud of our students, and it was a lovely way to celebrate all their hard work and achievements.”

Burton Borough School principal Caroline Bedford said her first prom with the school had been a memorable and happy occasion.

“It symbolised beautifully the time the students have spent with us at Burton Borough, academically, socially and personally. It was a night full of laughter, connection and hope for what lies ahead.”

Burton Borough is part of the Learning Community Trust, which has more than a dozen school sites across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
