“So much more to do and get right” says Telford MP
Telford’s MP Shaun Davies marks his first year in office and focuses on what’s next.
Today marks one year since Shaun Davies was elected as Member of Parliament for Telford. Since taking office last July, Shaun has actively supported over 5,500 constituents, tackling critical issues including housing, healthcare, pensions, education and anti-social behaviour.
Reflecting on his first year in Parliament, Shaun highlighted the importance of standing up for residents while acknowledging there is still significant work ahead.
“I’m proud of the support we’ve provided to thousands of constituents,” Shaun said. “As a Telford resident raising my own family here, I understand firsthand the challenges our town faces right now. My focus remains firmly on delivering real improvements for Telford and securing the investment our town needs.”
In his first 12 months, Shaun has spoken more in Parliament than any previous Telford MP in a single year, making over 90 contributions to ensure the voices of his constituents are heard at the highest levels of government. He has also asked over 200 written questions on behalf of residents and business across Telford.
Through his dedicated casework, Shaun has helped local people recover over £125,000 from lost pensions to unclaimed benefits, making sure residents receive the support they are entitled to. He has also helped Telford residents get vital health appointments, secure school places and access employment support.
Jean Hartshorn from Madeley is one constituent who Shaun supported in his first year. She said: “I first contacted Shaun during an online surgery after struggling with a pension issue for nearly three years. He stepped in straight away and within just three weeks, the problem was fully resolved. Shaun did a fantastic job. If you’re facing difficulties, I strongly encourage you to reach out to your MP. Shaun’s support made all the difference to me.”
Shaun added: “The work is far from over. I’m here to listen, to lead and to ensure Telford is firmly put on the map in Westminster. One year ago, I promised to work hard and stand up for Telford at every opportunity. Visiting hundreds of residents and businesses across the town has been my biggest priority—this feedback shapes everything I do as an MP.”
Shaun is committed to securing Telford’s fair share of funding for vital public services. He continues to campaign for improvements across key areas from better highways and flood defences to increased investment in hospital services and enhanced police presence. Shaun is also leading the campaign for a direct train line between Telford and London, a project that will boost local transport links and economic growth.
Shaun will be hosting a coffee morning in Ironbridge on Friday 18 July from 1pm to 4pm so he can meet even more constituents. The event, held in partnership with local police, the council and Citizens Advice and others will give residents the opportunity to meet their MP, share their concerns and receive support. No booking is required for this event.
