Shoplifter jailed for theft and breaching order

A persistent shoplifter who plagued retailers has been put behind bars after breaking a court order. Mark Vaughan-Brown, 54, of Beddoes Close in Shifnal, was handed a 36-week prison sentence for four counts of theft and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that banned him from Telford Shopping Centre.

Vaughan-Brown was apprehended on Thursday, July 17, following a theft at B&M in Telford town centre. He was then charged with the additional theft offences.

He appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on Monday, July 21, where he admitted all charges.

Sergeant Rich Jones, from Telford’s Town Centre Team, commented: “Officers and the public have helped us enforce Vaughan-Brown’s CBO, leading to a prolific Telford shoplifter being jailed. The CBO meant he was swiftly charged and remanded.”
