Telford Firefighter Conquers Gruelling 630-Mile Trek for Charity
Emily Jane Harding, a firefighter from Telford, has completed a remarkable 630-mile trek of the South West Coast Path. The challenging nine-week journey, which took place over the summer, was undertaken to celebrate her 30th birthday and raise money for three important charities.
Emily Jane, who carried all her gear on her back, began the arduous hike on June 30th, facing a total elevation gain equivalent to climbing Mount Everest four times. She described the experience as an “incredible journey” and said the “support has been insane.” She also met “a whole bunch of incredible people and made some amazing memories.” The trek included a brief break for the Boardmasters festival before she completed the final miles.
The heroic journey was a fundraising effort for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides support to fire service personnel and their families; The Veterans Foundation, which assists veterans and serving military members; and The South West Coast Path Association, which maintains the path. Emily Jane is urging the public to continue their support to help her reach her goal. “Please please please, if you haven’t donated yet I’d be incredibly grateful if you could dig deep and support this journey. Let’s see if we can get £4K,” she said.

Following the completion of the trek, Harding plans to head home before heading back south for some surfing.
