Was your child born between Sept 21 and Aug 22?
The process of applying for a school place for next September has officially opened for parents and carers across Telford and Wrekin. Families with children starting primary, junior, or secondary school in the area can now submit their applications.
There are different deadlines depending on the age of the child. For children born between September 2021 and August 2022, who are due to start primary school in 2026, the deadline is 15 January 2026. The same deadline applies to children moving from an infant to a junior school.
Parents and carers with children born between September 2014 and August 2015, who are due to start secondary school next year, have until 31 October 2025 to apply. It is advised that all applicants list four schools in order of preference. The council encourages parents and children to visit schools before making their final decision.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: “It’s that time of year again when school applications are open for children starting primary, junior or secondary school next year.”
“We always suggest that parents and carers visit the schools they’re interested in with their child – it’s a great way to get a feel for the place before making any decisions.”
Applications for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) must be submitted by 31 October 2025. National offer days for secondary school places are in early March, while primary school places are confirmed in mid-April.
