Sixth form students appeal for new pool table

A group of students at Haberdasher’s Abraham Darby School have launched an appeal for a new pool table and equipment, saying their current setup is “on the verge of breaking.”

Sophina Shah, a student at the sixth form, is leading the drive to replace the worn-out table, which she says is missing key items and falling into disrepair.

“We are missing pool balls, we only have one cue which is on the verge of breaking, and the table legs are slowly bending inward,” Sophina explained. “The pot holes are also beginning to pull off.”

The students are currently preparing for exams and feel a new table would provide a much-needed social space for relaxation and friendly competition.

Sophina said that a new table would “promote positive engagement” by offering a strategic game that encourages critical thinking and teamwork during breaks. The students also envision hosting tournaments that would boost community spirit within the sixth form.

The group is appealing for a complete replacement table and any necessary equipment, including balls, cues, a triangle, and chalk.
