Award is in safe hands with star student Harrison

Harrison Sokolov has been crowned ‘Player of the Term’ for September and October on the newly relaunched Wolves Foundation football course at Telford College.

The award was given in recognition of the goalkeeper’s outstanding performance – both on and off the pitch.

The ‘Football and Education’ programme, which has been relaunched by Telford College this year, gives students the chance to obtain a sports qualification alongside a series of enrichment opportunities with the Premier League club.

The students get a chance to wear the famous old gold colours and represent Wolves Foundation in fixtures against other professional club foundation teams in the ECFL league.

Teddy Munroe, student development officer at Wolves Foundation, said: “Harrison has been outstanding this first term both on the pitch and in the classroom.

“He has contributed massively in goal for the team which has helped them to the top of the league, and has also been consistent and hard working in training sessions.

“Harrison has also made a great impact in class, completing work to a high standard and also getting a positive grade in his first assignment.”

Wolves Foundation says it is delighted with the way this year’s Telford College course has started.

“We are delighted to once again be working with the leadership team at Telford College, and to see the new intake of students making such a strong start across all areas of the programme,” said Brad Moore, post 16 education and skills manager with Wolves Foundation.

“The classroom studies, enrichment opportunities and weekly programme of fixtures are already in full flow, with students making substantial progress.

“The course offers students the chance to obtain a qualification which can lead to different careers in the world of sport, and we are excited to see the young people embark on what will be an exciting journey.”
