First Trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Lands

Fans of the iconic plumber have reason to rejoice this week: the official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has finally arrived, giving our first full look at the long-awaited sequel to 2023’s smash hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

A Cosmic Adventure Awaits

The trailer premiered during the November Nintendo Direct and immediately sent the internet buzzing. From its sweeping cosmic landscapes to the return of fan-favourite characters, it’s clear this sequel is aiming to go bigger, brighter, and bolder than ever before.

As a lifelong Mario fan, I can honestly say this trailer has me beyond excited. In fact, I’m even more thrilled for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie than I am for Toy Story 5—and that’s saying something. The visuals, the music, the sense of adventure—everything about it captures the magic that made Super Mario Galaxy one of the most beloved games of all time.

New Voices, Familiar Heroes

Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), and Jack Black (Bowser) all return to reprise their roles, joined by new stars Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.

I’ll admit, I personally would’ve loved to hear either Margot Robbie or Amanda Seyfried voice Rosalina—both could’ve brought a unique elegance and warmth to the role. Still, I think Brie Larson will do just fine. She’s a strong performer with the presence and charm to make Rosalina shine in her own cosmic way.

What We Saw

The trailer opens with Bowser’s tiny form still imprisoned after the events of the last film, while galaxies swirl above him. Then comes the reveal everyone’s talking about—Rosalina, standing atop a glowing comet, summoning her Lumas in a dazzling display of stardust. From the first notes of the iconic Gusty Garden Galaxy theme, the nostalgia hits hard.

Looking Ahead

Set for release on April 3, 2026The Super Mario Galaxy Movie promises to be an epic space adventure full of heart, humor, and visual wonder. After seeing the trailer, I can safely say this is my most anticipated film of the year—yes, even above Toy Story 5.

If the final film delivers what this trailer teases, Mario’s next journey could be out of this world—literally.
