Shropshire Warriors rally round with foodbank donation

The Shropshire Warriors basketball team has stepped off the court and into the community this week, donating a significant collection of food and essential household items to Telford Crisis Support, a local charity dedicated to helping individuals and families facing hardship.

The donation was gathered through the club’s recent initiative, encouraging players, volunteers and parents to contribute items that would directly support vulnerable households across Telford area. The response exceeded their expectations.

Club Representative, Martin Lansley said:
“Basketball is at the heart of what we do, but community comes first. The Warriors are proud to stand alongside Telford Crisis Support to help families who need a lift this winter. Our club believes in using sport as a force for good, and this is just one of the ways we aim to make a positive impact.”

Telford Crisis Support, known for its food bank and emergency assistance services, welcomed the support. The organisation continues to experience high demand and relies heavily on local donations to keep up with the growing needs of the community.

A spokesperson for Telford Crisis Support commented:
“We’re extremely grateful for the generosity shown by the Shropshire Warriors. Donations like this ensure we can continue offering essential help to those facing incredibly difficult circumstances. Partnerships with local groups and sports teams make a tremendous difference.”

The Warriors plan to continue their community engagement efforts throughout the season, including future charity drives, youth engagement activities, and local outreach initiatives.
