A new Wrekin Car Park has opened
Although plans were approved almost a year ago, the new car park on the North side of the Wrekin has only recently opened, along with a catering trailer serving bacon butties, coffee and snacks.
Parking charges range from £1.20 for an hour including a RingGo ‘Convenience’ fee, up to £4 for all day and you need the RingGo app to pay. Beware of being charged extra for text message reminders.

The car park is ANPR camera controlled with the ability to pay after your stay because mobile signal can be patchy.
Mountain bikers were out and taking advantage of the cake and coffee while dog walkers and families utilised the safer way to get in and out of the car compared to parking on the roadside.
On the day I visited, just a handful of the 54 spaces were available, and can be expanded up to 131.
The Donkey Shed catering trailer is open Thurs to Sun 10am to 3pm

Geoff & Amy from Market Drayton who run the shed also have a number of other catering units including a similar style Shepherd Shed at the Benthall Hall in conjunction with the National Trust and they are looking for local part time staff.

Karl, Grace and their daughter from Penkridge were first time visitors to the Wrekin and enjoyed using the new car park, even though they could not get a signal. “It’s a great facility and £4 for all day is not bad. What I would have expected.” said Karl.
Visitors can Access the Wrekin directly from car park via new paths that have been laid.
The car park is accessed from J7 of the M54, turning right just before the one way system, and it’s on the left.
