MP Welcomes waiting list progress but stresses still more to do
MP Shaun Davies has welcomed new figures showing that NHS waiting lists have reached a three-year low, providing a boost for patients across Telford. Recent data reveals that the local waiting list has decreased by 13,942 since July 2024.
National figures show a drop of more than 86,000 in November, which is a large monthly decrease. At the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, the number of patients waiting for treatment has gone down by 30% in a year.
The trust was recently recognised for improvement in reducing waiting times for planned care. This performance secured £2 million in capital funding to support further changes.
Shaun Davies MP said: “News on NHS waiting lists really matters. While there are clear signs of local progress, I know there are still serious challenges facing NHS services here in Telford. These are issues residents raise with me regularly, and I agree that we all deserve better.”
He added: “There is a long way to go, but we are starting to see positive change. Listening to residents’ experiences is vital to ensuring I raise the right issues and keep pushing for the improvements our community needs.”
The progress has been linked to investment and the work of staff. Residents can share their views by emailing shaun.davies.mp@parliament.uk.
