Plenty to cheer for Burton Borough student Bobbie

A Newport student is celebrating after reaching new heights on the national stage in her first ever cheerleading competition.

Bobbie Parkhill, a Year 7 student at Burton Borough School, delivered an exceptional performance at the British Cheerleading Association Classic Cheerleading Competition.

She competed as part of the Crown Jewel Cats team from Cheer Athletics Telford, and helped her team mates to secure an impressive second place finish in the highly-competitive under 12s category.

Burton Borough School principal Caroline Bedford said Bobbie’s achievement was all the more special as it was her first ever competition.

“Over the past year, Bobbie has trained rigorously with Cheer Athletics, demonstrating unwavering commitment, resilience and a passion for the sport that has clearly paid off.

“Her success reflects not only her athletic ability but also her determination to push herself, learn new skills and embrace new challenges.

“Bobbie’s achievement is a fantastic example of confidence, dedication and teamwork in action. We are very proud of her and celebrate this brilliant milestone in her cheerleading journey.”

Bobbie’s involvement in cheerleading reflects her positive attitude and enthusiasm within school, where she continues to show the same drive and commitment to her studies.

Mrs Bedford said achievements like Bobbie’s highlighted the diverse talents of the school’s students and the many ways in which they excelled both inside and outside the classroom.
