Telford man jailed for driving while disqualified and over drug limit
A Dawley man has been sent to prison after being caught behind the wheel while disqualified and under the influence of drugs.
Samuel Creevy, of Portley Road, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 19 February 2026. The court heard that the 30-year-old was stopped while driving a grey Volkswagen Golf on Lawley Drive on 25 November 2025.
Tests revealed that the amount of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in Creevy’s blood significantly exceeded the specified legal limit for the controlled drug.
Further enquiries confirmed that Creevy was driving while disqualified and had no third-party insurance in place.
Magistrates noted that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified. The court heard the crimes were committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence.
Creevy pleaded guilty to all charges. He was sentenced to a total of eight weeks in prison. This includes a four-week sentence for the new offences and the activation of four weeks from a previous suspended sentence to run consecutively.
He has also been banned from driving for 36 months. No separate penalty was issued for the insurance offence, but his driving record was endorsed.
