Krazy Races names Lingen Davies as charity partner for Telford event
Krazy Races has announced Lingen Davies Cancer Support as the official charity partner for its upcoming Telford Town Park event.
The award-winning soapbox derby arrives in the town in July 2026. The event is being delivered in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council.
The partnership aims to support the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal. This is a £5 million campaign to build a dedicated cancer treatment centre at Princess Royal Hospital.
The new centre is planned to open in 2029. It will significantly increase local treatment capacity. Currently, around 40 per cent of patients treated in Shrewsbury have a TF postcode.
Statistics show that one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. The new facility will double chemotherapy capacity across the region. It will also provide extra diagnostic clinics and outpatient facilities.
Sarah Belcher, Founder of Krazy Races, said: “We’re really proud to be partnering with Lingen Davies Cancer Support for our first Krazy Races event in Telford. Supporting a dedicated local charity is a core part of what Krazy Races is about, and the Sunflower Appeal is an incredibly important cause for the community.”
Claire Purcell, Head of Community Fundraising for Lingen Davies, said: “The Sunflower Appeal is all about growing cancer care in our community, and support from events like this plays a vital role in helping us reach our fundraising goal.”
Councillor Kelly Middleton added: “Cancer will affect most of us at some point in our lives, which is why improving access to local treatment is so important. We’re proud to be supporting the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal.”
Teams from local businesses and community groups will design and race handcrafted karts down a purpose-built course. Thousands of spectators are expected to attend the day of high-energy entertainment.
